WordPress 6.9 Beta 3 was released this morning with over 80 updates since Beta 2 was released a week ago.
Unless there are any major issues, it looks like Release Candidate 1 will be on November 11, with the final release slated for December 2.
That said, shortly after the release, it was announced on the Making WordPress Slack that the Template Activation feature, which we were really excited about, will be delayed until the WordPress 7.0 release. From the notice, it sounds like this was delayed mainly because of UX. We hope there really was more to it than just UX as that is something that could’ve easily been touched up in a later release instead of shelving such as useful feature for another 6-7 months with the way the current release schedule is.
